Factors to Consider While Picking the Best Double Stroller
Before we get into the reviews of some of the best double strollers around, it is important to first consider the factors one should take into account before purchasing this type of stroller. Here are a few questions you should ask yourself:
What are the size and age of your kids?
Like any stroller, picking out a stroller that fits your kids’ size and age is extremely important. For instance, if you would like to use the double stroller for your newborn, the stroller has to be suitable from birth – the seat has to be able to recline to an almost flat position. Examples of such strollers would be the Britax B-Agile double stroller and the Contours Options Elite tandem stroller.
Aside from that, the weight of your kids can also affect your decision in picking out the best double stroller for your family. Double strollers have different weight capacities; some are able to carry weighs of up to 35 lbs per seat while others are able to carry up to 55 lbs per seat. Having an idea of the weight of your kids as well as approximating how quick they grow will ensure that the double stroller you purchase can be used for a long time. For example, if you have twins whom are already 3 years old, finding a double stroller which has a higher weight capacity would make more sense in the long run.
How will you be using this double stroller?
If you’re an avid jogger and are looking for a double stroller that you can take your kids out when you jog, what you’ll need is a double jogging stroller.
If you’re not going to use this double stroller for jogging, but rather, for everyday use, ask yourself how often you will be using it. Another thing to consider is if you’ll be using this stroller during your travels.
For everyday, city use, consider the spaces you need to navigate through. For tighter spaces, a tandem (front-back) stroller such as the Baby Jogger City Select stroller would be more convenient than a side-by side stroller. If you travel often, what you need is probably a lightweight double stroller such as the ZOE XL2 double stroller. Another good option is the highly anticipated UPPAbaby G-Link double stroller.
How many kids do I have or plan to have?
Before purchasing a stroller, it is practical to ask yourself how many kids you will have in the near future. If you’re planning to have two or three kids in the next few years, it is often more affordable to purchase a versatile stroller like the Baby Jogger City Select stroller which is suitable for one, two, or three kids.
What features am I looking for in a double stroller?
While most standard features like a 5 point harness are common among most double strollers out there today, different double strollers do offer different features. For instance, if you and your partner have significant height differences, you might want to consider a double stroller with adjustable handle bars. Or, if you will be using this stroller to go to shopping malls, you’ll likely need a stroller with a large storage basket.
General Double Stroller Types
In general, double strollers can be divided into two different types. After considering all four factors discussed above, it is now time to narrow down your search even further by picking out the type of double stroller that works best for your family. By going over the different types of double strollers as well as answering the questions above, you should be able to pick out the best double stroller for your family.
Tandem strollers, whereby the seats of the strollers are in a “back-front” configuration, is one of the three types of double strollers. Most tandem strollers have both seats face forward, however, some strollers allow you to adjust the configuration of the stroller’s seats. For example, the Baby Jogger City Select stroller has 16 different configurations.
The biggest advantage of why you would pick a tandem stroller is its width. Tandem strollers are the narrowest strollers for double strollers and as such, if you see yourself needing to consistently navigate through tight spaces, this type of double stroller is for you. Another nice thing about tandem strollers is that they usually have a smaller folded footprint when compared to side by side double strollers.
The downside of this type of double stroller is that it can be more difficult to lift the front wheels to get up on the side walk. Besides that, while it is easy to attend to the child closest to you (in the first seat), the second seat might be out of your reach.
Side by Side Stroller
This type of double stroller, as its name suggests, have two seats side by side. Unlike tandem strollers, the seats for side by side strollers are usually fixed – both facing forward.
An advantage of side by side strollers is that they have a tighter turning radius; I usually find them a little bit easier to maneuver when compared to tandem strollers. I also find this type of double strollers to be lightweight. For example, the UPPAbaby G-Link weighs only 24.5 pounds, yet offers a whole ton of great features!
While of side by side strollers are just a tad wider than tandem strollers, this makes it more challenging to navigate through shops and crowds.

Top Double Stroller Reviews
Baby Jogger City Select Stroller
The Baby Jogger City Select stroller is definitely one of my favorite double strollers out there. Its versatility of being able to carry up to three children as well as its premium design and features makes this double stroller one of the best out there. One of its key features is that its seats can be configured in 16 different ways. It also has an adjustable handle bar, is easily foldable and has a hand operated parking brake. As a tandem stroller, it also has a narrow width, measuring just 25.75 inches. When folded, it is so compact that it even fits a Mini Cooper! Many parents that I know, as well as myself, love this stroller!
Britax B-Agile Stroller
This Britax B-Agile stroller measures 31 inches in width, which is pretty narrow for a side by side stroller. This stroller can be set up really easily! Some of the features of this stroller include an all-wheel suspension for smooth riding, an easy access storage basket which can be accessed from all sides, adjustable handle bars to accommodate partners with different heights, and a seat that reclines almost flat. One of the biggest pros for me with this Britax stroller is that it has a total of four wheels on the front – two on each side. This makes pushing and maneuvering this stroller super easy.
BOB Revolution Flex Duallie Stroller
Technically, this is a double jogging stroller, however, I’ve personally tried this stroller for and found that it works well for everyday use as well. The BOB Revolution Flex Duallie stroller is a versatile stroller that can be used for jogging as well as for everyday use. This double jogging stroller has a very durable frame that is constructed with high strength chromoly and aluminum. The stroller also has premium quality wheels, a padded handlebar that is adjustable and a good amount of storage space. I really liked the adjustable handlebar and the small footprint of this double jogging stroller when folded. This is definitely one of the most versatile double jogging strollers around in the market today
Peg Perego Pliko Mini Twin Stroller
The Peg Perego Pliko Mini Twin stroller is one of the best double strollers out there today. This stylish looking stroller weighs just 24 pounds and boasts a superb folding mechanism that’s easy to use. For me, what really stands out in this Peg Perego stroller is its design – they really thought through this one out! It offers multi-position independent backrests, canopies and leg rests – this means each child will be able to be in a position that is comfortable. Besides that, given that it has a handle bar in the middle (which is not very common), I found it easy to push the stroller with just one hand. In addition, it has an integrated pull handle that allows parents to pull the stroller like a trolley for easy transport. I also appreciated the fact that the handle bars on the stroller are adjustable – something to look out for if you’re a tall parent.

Baby Jogger City Mini Double Stroller
As you may already know, Baby Jogger is one of the top stroller brands (and one of my all-time favorites). Why? Because all the Baby Jogger strollers are not only well-built, but also offer many great features. The Baby Jogger City Mini is no exception. Perhaps the stand out feature for this stroller is it’s single-handed folding mechanism and large canopy coverage. It offers a seat that can be reclined to an almost flat position, which makes it more comfortable for your little one to take a nap. Aside from that, the stroller is car seat compatible, making it a breeze to transport your newborn to and from the car and stroller. While the stroller has 8-inch wheels that look like they can take on anything, do note that this stroller is not designed for jogging. Lastly, it has a decent amount of storage space in its basket below the seat which I found adequate for the usual essential items.
Contours Options Elite Tandem Stroller
For a double stroller that is super affordable, the Contours Options Elite tandem stroller still offers a bunch of great features. It offers seven different seat configurations, a 40 lb weight capacity on each seat, excellent canopies for maximum protection, an almost flat seat reclining position (perfect for newborns), as well as a huge storage basket. This double stroller comes with 4 different color options.
ZOE XL2 BEST Double Stroller (ZOE XL2)
ZOE has quickly became one of the brands to look out for in the stroller industry. The ZOE XL2 double stroller set a standard as to how lightweight double strollers can actually be. This double stroller weighs only 16 pounds and comes with a ton of feature that you’ll see in double strollers that weigh twice as much! With this super lightweight double stroller, you’re able to travel around and run quick errands easily. This double stroller also folds easily, has a fairly large storage basket, and has a great kick space (distance between the rear wheel and handle bar).
You can’t go wrong with either one of these amazing double strollers. If you’re looking specifically for a double jogging stroller, be sure to check out my guide on that. Also be sure to check out the Mommy Stroller homepage to help you decide which type of stroller is best for your family.
