UPPAbaby G-Lite Stroller Review
|Product Name:||UPPAbaby G-Lite Stroller|
If you haven’t heard about UPPAbaby strollers before, you’re definitely missing out! A few months ago (late 2015), I tested out and wrote a review on the UPPAbaby G-Luxe 2015 stroller and absolutely fell in love with it. You can read the full review here. In fact, that UPPAbaby stroller was one of my favorite strollers in 2015. Today, this review will be UPPAbaby’s most basic stroller, the G-Lite 2015 stroller. I consider this stroller as a lightweight stroller as it only weighs 11 pounds! While most lightweight strollers are pretty basic, this UPPAbaby stroller packs a ton of features which I’ll be going over in this review.
Features and Pros
Ultralight weight. I consider this UPPAbaby stroller to be super lightweight – weighing only 11 pounds. The stroller’s weight is largely due to the fact that the stroller’s frame is made from lightweight aluminum. The UPPAbaby G-Lite stroller is certainly one of the lightest strollers out there in the market today. While it is lightweight, it does well in having a weight capacity of 55 pounds.
Removable Canopy. One of the things I liked about UPPAbaby’s strollers is its superb canopy coverage. The UPPAbaby G-Lite stroller is not exception; its removable canopy has an extendable SPF 50+ sunshade that provides excellent sun protection for your child.
5 Point Harness. Similar to many other strollers out there in the market today, this stroller comes with a 5 point harness system.
Tall Ergonomic Handles. Are you a tall parent that’s taller than six feet? If yes, you’re going to love this lightweight stroller! No more hunching or bending forward to push the stroller.
Quick Folding Mechanism. Like the UPPAbaby G-Luxe, the G-Lite folds quickly and easily after some practice. This stroller makes use of hand level triggers in order to fold the stroller. Once folded, this compact stroller measures 11.5” x 7.5” x 42”. It is also interesting to note that this stroller is able to stand by itself when folded – a feature that makes it a tad more convenient for parents since you won’t need to bend over to pick up the stroller from the floor.
Stain Resistant and Washable Fabric. In addition to its lightweight, this is perhaps one of my favorite features of the G-Lite stroller. Most parents probably have experienced having to deal with our child making a mess in the stroller whether it is spilling drinks or leaving crumbs all over the seat. Thankfully, this stroller’s fabric is stain and water resistant. What’s more is that you can actually remove the seat pad which is machine-washable! I like my strollers clean and brand new, so this feature is definitely a plus in my books!
Lockable Front Wheels. This is a pretty standard feature in most modern day strollers. Lockable front wheels allow you to easily push through surfaces such as grass. When you need more maneuverability, all you need to do is unlock those front wheels!
Removable Cup Holder. A little nice add-on included with the purchase of the UPPAbaby G-Lite stroller is a removable cup holder which you can attach to the stroller’s aluminum frame.
Large Storage Space. For a 11 pound, lightweight stroller, the storage basket for this stroller can be considered large.
The UPPAbaby G-Lite stroller is another “almost perfect” product from UPPAbaby. For its price range, I would have liked to see some of these missing features included.
Seat Cannot be Reclined. Sure this is a lightweight stroller (rather than a fully-featured umbrella stroller like the UPPAbaby G-Luxe stroller), however, it would’ve been nice to have a recline-able seat with this stroller. This feature can be extremely useful for families who are using this lightweight stroller in their travels.
Two Handed Folding Mechanism. I found that the two handed folding mechanism took some getting used to. This could be a personal preference, but I’ve found some other strollers that fold up more easily.
Other Noteworthy Points
You can pick from two different color options for this stroller – Jake and Denny. Both options are shown in the picture below.
The price for the UPPAbaby G-Lite stroller is reasonable and decent in my opinion.
In many aspects, the UPPAbaby G-Lite stroller is very similar to the UPPAbaby G-Luxe, a stroller I highly recommend. The G-Lite stroller which is both cheaper and lighter does not come with as many bells and whistles as the G-Luxe model. Some features which make the UPPAbaby G-Luxe stroller such a great stroller are thankfully incorporated in this G-Lite stroller as well. My personal favorite has got to be the stain and water resistant fabric which is also machine-washable. I also liked its large removable canopy for maximum sun protection. One of the things that many parents would have liked to see in this stroller is the inclusion of a recline-able seat. All in all, the G-Lite stroller is a great choice if you’re shopping for a lightweight stroller that not only looks, but feels modern.CLICK HERE to check the latest price for this stroller!
